2nd December 2013 (broad smile)... it has a nice ring to it doesn't it?. You and I once again have made it. Off the finish line. We have crossed over into 2013 (hope Rev. Otabil doesn't have exclusive rights to that phrase). No sir, i am not even going to comment on my new year resolutions. I do not have any. No need! Break them fast as i create them. Done with all that. I want to live one day at a time, cross my t's and dot my i's as they come along. But do not mind me, resolute away( haaha).
Many happy returns. Afei sesei na obiara ete nkwamu...na obiara ay3 kama. Afei sesei na Supreme Court akasa na obiara ehu ne smoothness level (mischievious laugh)...easy easy. haha.
So i am back at work and i am literally about to burst a vein. It is all because of some "genius" who decided to fib that an email which contained crucial information for the Executive Director did not hit her Outlook. Apart for my immediate disdain because seriously it is not even a week into the new year but you are lying (how?), it is very sad that people cannot own up and take responsibility. Yes once in a while, as human as we are we tend to want to dodge small but seriously we cannot bring that behaviour into serious places such as our places of work. Do we ever stop to think that such our irresponsible behaviour can cost lots of money and especially lots of damage to reputations where deadlines are concerned.
Well one thing i will share with you is please go the extra mile and copy(cc) or blindcopy (bcc) yourself in all mails you send. It is very critical for survival in an office environment. Another friend Abeeku Entsua Mensah gave another tip "if your email client is configured that way you can add a receipt...when they read/open the mail it will let you know they have seen/read it. Then they cant lie abt it". Fantastic! Because apart from dealing with some smartass collegues you get to deal with some clients who are allergic to reading your emails. One thing is for sure, I will make this collegue doesnt hear the end of it for the next two weeks. Yes because at the end of the day, you do not treat people like that. I really cannot understand how people read the Bible these days....ummm do unto yourself as you would do unto thy neighbour. And i repeat to make matters worse it is not even a week into the new year...so so temptations.
My headliner...Change the trend is not about her. It is about a discussion Patrick and I had yesterday. We went to La Palm. Yes if you snickered then this post is exactly for you. As we sat over drinks before dinner arrived, we realised that we sat in amidst of non Ghanaians. Yes, left right center. No! I am in no way saying that the it is wrong for them to patronise such a place..tourism blah blah blah but why do we shy away from such places. Who do we want to go ans sit in those places for us. During our discussion (very interesting i must say), we made a couple of points. Three actually stood firm, I have listed them below,
1. People can afford to go there but simply will not go because people will talk about them.
2. People think it is way above their budgets.
3.It is very pretencious to say the least.
Let me ask you ...were we wrong in our assumption? Let me know if you think so. Honestly. I know this for certain that once you begin by what people dictate, you have signed a beautiful death warrant. I also know that you grow only when you step out off your comfort zone...what is wrong in putting on a nice shirt or blouse and going to enjoy a treat alone or with family or good friends?. What is wrong? And please you really do not need lots of money to go to such places.. I do not have millions in my purse as I walk around. You will be surprised some people just go and sit over a bottle of water and drinks and talk plenty whilst you can afford a decent meal there quietly. It is not pretencious to go to such places, it really is not. It is not as if you are going to live there and act like Alinko Dangote . Think about it and change the trend. Let us stop making such places no go areas. It is built in Ghana not Mars. If you have worked hard, you deserve to relax nicely...or that one too is someway? ei if it is then i really do not understand soo many things
I have got to go....lunch break is done.
Ps. Is 7th January a holiday..please i love my holidays, cant help it.
hahaaha.
