Forget the Gold.

Woyo-azonto. Gold- azonto. Much ado about nothing. That is exactly what it is. I remember how nauseated I was that we or is it rather that the state could not rise up in all its glory and collect money that was wrongfully taken from it coffers in the name of financial engineering. I was sick to my stomach infact still am that the state is dancing to some aloof tune...umm the state cannot find witnesses to prosecute this case. I mean how. It does not make sense or I am the one exaggerating?!
If I could not find any joy within my own country how much more when the issue is beyond the shores of Ghana. come on.

What else can I expect when some 1.5 ton of gold happens to get seized by Turkish authorities then it happens to get released and finds it way into Iran.
Mind you, an article currently on the VOA news website with focus on the Middle East tells a nice story of how banks in Turkey continue to send gold to Iran despite U.S. pressure to curb a booming gold-for-gas trade, which helps Iran skirt international sanctions(story by Dorian Jones-dated 24th January 2013).

So let me tell you what I expect..... nothing less of a denial by the state, by its officials especially at the ministry of finance, by everybody at the airport. Yes and that is what I got. Finite. Case close. An aircraft left the shores of this land with 1.5 tons of Gold and nobody knows anything. Soo cool. But not soo cool because I will not hear my favourite ex propaganda sec/deputy minister of finance and economic planning/ minister of state at the presidency in charge of finance and its allied institutions and an honourable member of parliament Hon. Fiavi Kwettey talk about how all the gold reserves are finished. (laughter) Oh yes...I remember hon. Fiavi telling the whole Ghana that Ex. President Kufuor had sold all the gold reserves. I guess we borrowed this gold (engulfing laughter). My advice to you who might be sad about this is to simply it. We are even lucky to be hearing about this. What about the ones you have not heard...all the things that have passed through our borders. Adopt the see no evil, hear no evil, watch no evil mentality. Unless of course, the 1.5 tons of gold is your missing gold....
Just forget the gold. it will not come back today or tomorrow. They have done Ghana antenna.

Anyways I did not come to write plenty about some 1.5 ton of Gold.... I am writing this post to tell you about a programme my friend and I are producing on VIASAT 1. It is titled MONEY MATTERS
before I talk about the programme, join me in applauding the brain behind the concept. Mr. Elorm Mensa. He is simply fantastic. To have the dream is one thing, to put it together (and try to tolerate me )is no small feat. Clap clap applause. Elorm kindly take a bow....(whispering* he is very shy).
But seriously, you and I agree that money tends to rule the world we live in. It is a major if not the major determinant in providing security be it food, clothing, shelter, services etc. In as much as we are told there are opportunities around to make us financially stable, the environment we operate in is not condusive enough.

Yes we are told that we are the next generation of Bill Gates, but Bill Gates himself will have suffocated in Ghana, if he had dropped out of school here. We are told that if you have a solid business plan and you will definately have a financial backing but seriously does that work in this country...we simply want to let that side of the golden age of entrepreneurship be heard. But there will be other topics...all topics that are relevant to every day living. The pilot for season is this friday. No I will not be on televison...Elorm Mensa will be your host. It will this Friday at 12 noon. Please be our critics. We want to know it all the good bad and ugly. umm more good tho...haha just kidding. But seriously do watch. I expect each one of you to note down all the every day hussles with finances that you want discussed.
We need to know that we are giving out the right information and most importantly we are discussing relevant topics.

It is almost time for Ghana to play Niger. Ooo I am panicking. I have placed a bet on my national team and knowing how they can break you ^&*()$#%^@@ER$%^^. (slaps faces) No I will not give up osseyy Black Stars, Ossey my Ghc 300 bet with Anny Osabutey aka the thorn in my flesh. But i am loving Asamoah Gyan. He refuses to play penalties. Man does not like any wahala.

Have a good evening and remember this friday. 12 noon.

PS. I cannot decide which makes me more nervous.....the Black Star match or you watching the show this Friday. Nerves, nerves!!!

Lots On My Mind...

a. DR. WEREKO BROBBEY

b. KOFI ADAMS

I have been looking for a heading for this post and I cannot seem to find any. What I know is as soon as I woke up this fine Thursday morning, I had these two topics above dancing in my head in no particular order. Dear post title, I hope you come out from where you are hiding soon. Well good afternoon to you too...Let’s start shall we. Politics in Ghana is very interesting, sometimes so interesting to the point of disbelief. We do and say soo many things with lots of short memory. I was not old enough to understand what was happening with his radio station been closed down or when he filed the suit against the NPP because he had lost the position of national chairman but because of his recent outbursts ala Martin Amidu style I decided to bother myself and go back into history. But before that let me tackle the issue that brought his outburst...the available parliamentary seats for Buem and Akatsi.

They became available because of the death of RIP Hon. Henry F. Kamel and the ascension to Speaker of Parliament by Hon. Doe Adjaho. Ok. These two seats can be found in the Volta Region of Ghana. Strictly nyebro.
Pause and think about this... (Forget about alleged rigging and Supreme Court matters arising or not) who in their right minds apart from the ruling National Democratic Congress will want contest these seats. This is not the national election where you sort of obliged to field a candidate come rain or water...these are by-elections under extraordinary circumstances.
RIP Hon. Kamel was really liked by his constituents, he is dead....what do you think they will do in his memory? Mind you, he was the substantive regional minister. Hon. Doe Adjaho is now the Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana. Such an honor. You think his constituents are in any rush to vote against the party that put him there....or I am the one who is seeing it differently. He has won that seat hands down I believe since 1996 and we are now in 2013. Do the math, are you kidding me.
Please if NPP did not even boycott those seats I will consider them extremely stupid. There is no way they will win.

Hold on! I know you are about to unleash "if it was Bantama will they boycott?” My answer is a simple no. Why? Because If you stand in Bantama whether NPP, NDC, CPP you are likely to win. If I am lying...look at the margins between candidates there and the margins between candidates in my mother's place of birth...Volta Region aka Chinese Bank. Big difference. Overwhelming difference infact.Sometimes politics in Ghana is not rocket science. That is why I believe in my heart that Dr. Brobbey wanted to say his thing a long time ago and didn't know how to say it till he got this chance. You have felt cheated sometime and went to court, a few years down the line, what is wrong if your "friend" decides to do same. What is wrong? Mind you.... your friend says he has evidence that he can use to prove the case, what is wrong?
What is wrong if the party that you once wanted to be national chairman seeks redress in court? What makes that wrong? Or the principle has changed. Or the party has informed a select few that once they are in court they will not contest any election in this lifetime? Why is he/people trying to make it look as if Nana Addo is desperately seeking to remain candidate? Am I the only one who has heard Nana saying that "I will accept what the court rules on finally"? Maybe I am and I should not be too surprised because that is what most people seem to take joy in. Cutting and pasting his words or worst case scenario totally becoming deaf to anything he says. Maybe I should be asking why does Nana Addo intrigue people soo much. It is very sad.

Yes the next point will be, he is saying this because of the interest of the party. No it is because of the interest of the nation especially the next elections and over that we understand how the biometric laws work so that everybody is clear in their minds what they are up against. Another point is he is Victor Owusu nephew. I am also Joseph Boachie- Danquah great grand niece, I am the cousin to Oseedeayo Ageman Badu the current Dormaa Omanhene, I am also the godchild of Prof. Emeritus Mrs. Miranda Naabia Greenstreet and... So what?
Mr. Victor Owusu is famous for criticizing Dr. Busia at a rally. My history (correct me if I am wrong) tells me of how Mr. Owusu openly criticized Dr Busia at a rally chief among reasons..."why are opposition elements finding jobs everyday and their people not getting jobs....ummm and why should we have relations with then apartheid South Africa". And ummm that makes the mentioning or it is public declaration of blood ties fascinating?!! Really?! I will leave that one to you to toss about in your head.

That is why sometimes I like General Mosquito. Once you leave the team and piss out plenty...no matter what you do to come back, he looks at you and laugh in his head. Guess it is time to roll Mr. Kofi Adams...But hahahahahahahaaa what was he expecting or he had forgotten himself. I am soo surprised he actually thought he was going to be accepted. He had a perfect living example. Dr. Spio Gabrah. Whatever he did after the Team A and Team B love letter was off no consequence. He has broken the bonds of trust. Reminds me of the mafia...your word is your bond. You are either completely in or completely out. Or he thought because the others were accepted, accepted without trust? You might as well stay an orphan!! Hahahhha. Please Mr. Adams very consistent next time around because you know what the General in all his glory has made you look very small. Infact very very small. Nothing much to say about this. When you make your bed of roses, don’t forget the thorns as you lie down. But we can make him honory Member of Parliament of Buem...or? Hahhhahha.

This is was not dancing in my mind but let me add it. I do not know the different stages of parliamentary work the minority in parliament intend to boycott but the vetting committee should not have been one of them. Oga in his wisdom with advisers in tow have selected people with some given them serious titles. Some of them overlap but hmmm because of post and pilolo skills...people especially the nominees are not ready to accept that. Thats ok. Really. As for the overlapping truth and territorial war fare....it will happen soon.
But who misses a chance to show someone that some of his choices suck. I sure know not me...Sigh. Peharps the answer I might get is who wants to sit with someone who has been fingered as being the mastermind behind the famous Woyome case. Where is the moral right/ ethic of that person in vetting potential public officers. That is Ghana for you. Once you think, you have nibbed the bud some where then another gaping hole appears. Will they vet Mawuena Trebah?! I would not want to miss that...working hour blues.

Have a good day though and please tell the Black Stars to score...or else we will send them to face the Malian insurgents. I still have not found a name...is lots on my mind ok? That should do.

Peace.

VODAFONE

Hello. Ok so this is the time that if you know anyone who works at Vodafone Ghana Limited, you call them to read this post of mine. For the ordeal they have put me through, it hurts me to the core that I cannot sue them. I do not have the money or the time. It hurts that I cannot make millions out of the mental torture I have been through but I will honestly do my simple best to discourage anyone from using their services. All will be fair in this love and war. One person a day ought to do the trick.
I have been lucky to live outside this country. Not for too long but long enough to know that wireless services, water, electricity, cable tv are things that shouldn't cause soo much pain especially when one has paid for the service.

Well maybe I should tell you the entire story, so you can appreciate my firm commitment to make them lose a customer a day.

My story begins....

I am my boss's right hand person. Some call it executive assistant, I call it the fix it person. With over 600 hundred employees in Accra, Tema and Kumasi, it is very frustrating when lights go out or most importantly the internet goes off. Tema and Kumasi offices are on fibre optic but Accra (head office) where I operate from we are married to Vodafone Ghana. With the national light situation, we have already raised our hands, danced enough with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and done the sensible thing (bought two heavy duty generators from SMICE) so that once the lights do their thing, we do not suffer for it. But the internet.....

This journey actually begins in November 2012 when we realized that two cables outside our yard had been cut. Mind you, these two lines were for the fax machine and the broadband. We went to lodge our complain at the Cantonments branch only for us to be told that there is nothing they can do because the area our line falls under is Accra East ie Circle Branch. Ok no problem. I move to circle and they tell me two things;

1. They will attend to it within 14 working days.

2. Our lines are not registered as part of Vodafone Business Solutions so we will be treated as normal customers.

3. They have "entered" the report. It is in the system.

*(%^&$@EW@#!SADXC%*_+.!!!!! I was fuming. Fuming. Fuming. So for 14 working days, I should tell my MD to close the office, so for the past 7 years that we bought, moved into that facility, registered with Vodafone, interacted with them on minor issues (one time, my boss and I went to display...they followed us to the office. It took them thirty minutes to fix it) they could not tell us that we were not part of some business solutions. And what in the name of my good Lord above...is consoling about "I have entered the report". I want a solution immediately not you "entering it". I bit my tongue and asked that they should put the company on business solutions but first they must send us an email to that effect with the options and kindly assign us a VBS relationship manager.
Hmm. They said they will get back to us. I got back to the office and from there onwards a phone war ensured. I called and called and called and my other colleagues called till they got tired and came. Took them an hour to fix. The entire problem was just a cable. A simple black cable. Freaking unbelievable!!! An hour.

An hour minus the hours we had lost in 10 days and printing from an internet cafe. Downloading our documents onto phones and printing....all this was resolved in an hour. How evil.
The rest of November passed, December passed. New Year, one would think that would mean new resolutions for everyone. No, like ECG and Ghana Water Company, those resolutions have swerved Vodafone as well.
Last week Thursday, I got to work and we had no internet. For real, I thought I was dreaming. First of all I couldn’t be stressed out on that particular Thursday and yes that happened to be the day all the directors were converging in Accra office for a meeting. We all knew we had paid the three month subscription and there was no way that subscription was to end that Thursday. We called and they said they have migrated us unto business solutions. @#$!%^&DER#@#$%*. We asked who sent them. The lady said they had sent texts and called...to whom and who answered? She is not sure. %$^&*()R$#@$#%% like seriously?! Who does that? So we asked how many VBS packages they had...they had three. Ok. Mention them...(1)Ghc 180 (2) Ghc350 (3)Ghc 500. Yes your guess is good as mine. They chose Ghc 500. Without consulting.... nothing. Ei. No problem! we paid. Got the internet back. Fuming silently once again. Then roll in 21st January 2013. Yes just this Monday.hmmm yes you guessed right. VODAFONE.

The broadband went off again and all the landlines were dead. Yep I know...I am living in some kind of Vodafone nightmare. I personally went to the circle branch. They once again looked me in the eye and told me...please we have entered it into the system...it will take 10 working days. (Hands on my head) How do they do this and get away with this. I left circle because I had a master plan. I had saved the last number they called us with...I was going to frustrate the living daylights of anyone who picked. I did just that and more. I called every one hour. I called...vented like a mad woman. Every hour..I will patiently pick up my phone and vent for 10 blissful minutes. They did not come on Monday but came on Tuesday at exactly 3:45pm. That was not also without incident. They said what was "entered' in their system was for only the broadband so the landlines cannot be fixed. &*()+_%$^&$@#!!!. As I speak my internet is working but my landlines are down and ooooh I am still calling very hour for my 10 mins of blissful venting. Yes... all will be fair in this love and war.

I really do not know when companies that provide services will realize they are not doing us a favor. I wonder when the telecommunication companies realize that we do not need their promotions of gifts, cars, sponsorships for beauty pageants plays or workshops, their loud media campaign of corporate social responsibility, or free credits we simply need excellent services we pay with hard cash. I wonder when the telecommunication companies realize that we are getting fed up with the crappy services and one day one person will rise and sue. I wonder when the telecommunication services will really listen to the recorded messages between clients and their customer care representatives. I wonder when they will realize that most of their client services people do not understand the psychology of a frustrated client.

Before I end, Bianca, Seth and Audrey of Vodafone...thanks for the help. They were the only 3 people out of the 9 people interacted who offered some kind of help. Any place I need to drop that favor I will. But your "company" is full of &^*()$#%@#$%^&*_+_&&^%$%#@#@

I am done....it is almost time for me to call.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Life and its Issues...

Today has been very somber. My collegue nearly lost her mum due high blood pressure. Almost had a heart attack. I watched how she run to her car, full of tears screaming on the phone urging her dad to be upbeat. hmmm. I know how that feels....5 years ago my brother and I run to a neighbours house pounding on the door " Papa is not moving, he says his ears are buzzing, he says his left side is numb". I remember that day so well, Annabelle took me back into time. (Snap back to the present)Kindly note that I said nearly, her mum is fine and responding to treatment. Been crazy like hell in the office, doing two jobs all at once and its a Monday. But her mother stable...makes it sure worth.

Today I was pretty excited, I was about go on a tirade about unecessary stuff we do at weddings. Spending the whole day at a wedding? Why?. I went for a wedding on Sunday. Yes, my bosom friend for 24 years..Akosua Birago Boateng (Mrs Akosua Owusu Krofah) tied the knot. I was so psyched to gush about the wedding, how simple it was, started on time, ended on time, no shouting, no whoop whoop during the service (only at the when Isaac was removing the veil...even that simple and straightforward) it was so simple the hymans were just two. I guess that is why we have maintained our friendship over the years...we have the same principle. "Less is more". I am told that Father Campell of Christ The King Chapel has this hilarious yet

But she is the quiet one, I am the loud one. Opposites do attract. Cheers to true, no hidden motives friendship. I sure will gush about her and Isaac when i begin to upload the pictures. And yes yes...She has known Isaac for the same years I have known Patrick..9 strong years. (beaming smile) and the song she danced to ah you should have seen me waving my handkerchief..totally love the chorus.

chorus: Oye Oye mekoraa sore to dwom se oye
             Oye Oye Oye Oye Oye

Translation : It is good(2x) my soul rises sings and says it is good
                   :It is good(5x)
Ummm the full song, please forgive me...i really do not want to massacre the Akan language( Andy Abrokwah stop coughing) but it is a popular praise and worship song. If you dont like church then ummm...sorry then you will not know what I am talking about.
But Life is something, Sunday was joyous all laughter, hugs anticipating a year from now her first child then Monday...a life almost lost. Whew!!

Two things caught my attention on my way to work this morning. I have not had the time to take a look at the stories making the headlines because of how my day has gone but umm H.E. President Mahama says he has how many witnesses to testify for him in court? 4, 500. hahhhaaa!! You have got to be kidding me. But what is that? I am sure the judges will be laughing in their chambers. probably texting each other saying see the NDC and NPP muumuus. We will show them all, yes we don't   have light, no water, no street lights and they say what petition alongside 4500 witnesses.
But it must be a huge headache to be a Ghanaian supreme court judge eh? But wait  a minute. I am sure the other judges are  soo jealous. hmm all the others are getting attention ala Atuguba. hehheeehe.  But yes now that everybody has responded, we have the full set of idiots right?..(umm only Oga is distingushed, rest are idiots...before Dumevi and co decide to report me). Wednesday  I hear through my grapevine is the next date in court. Interesting times and interesting people. People who do not understand what subpoena means are trying to educate us on court procedures. Ei..but seriously 4,500 witnesses...hahahaa and they say I got jokes but dear new Oga if you share i10s and laptops without knowing, I have raised my hands. Please relax with our taxes (covers face, burst out in laughter).

The other one deserves its own paragraph. Madam Oye Lithur. Well her nomination for the Gender blah blah ministry has raised certain eyebrows. Those opposed to her especially talk about her "support" for homosexuality. Sigh! Touchy Touchy topic. I will dance around it because frankly i do not have a firm stance, because who are you and I to judge. I am not about to sit down raise look down above the rim of my glasses and judge. It is between that person and God. If that person wants   to use his or her body for that....He or she alone will atone. So I end it there. Lord knows I have enough troubles on my own to be adding anyone's to mine. I know the popular saying is the society will decline. Well I am sorry (in my most solemn voice ever) but society has already declined. The only way to rectify it is to train the younger ones not necessarily your kids the values of old. The values that are just, right and pure. I am a Christian, I believe in prayer and the power of prayer but I love reality. The only way to correct wrongs now..is to stick to your value and teach some especially to those who are in the process of shaping their lives because they need values. Especially now that good values are no longer in fashion.
Anyways, let me leave this thing..My issue with Oye Lithur is the gender advocate position. The gender advocate. The gender advocates we have  sit in Accra and make noise on the juicy issues- women empowerment, Liberian refugees, women in politics, micro loans for women, affirmative action meanwhile NONE of them have gone to the witch-camp in the North destroy that nonsense. (don't tell me it is a cultural issue), none of them have really sat down to find out why majority of the women do not make soo much from the loans they collect.....I could go on and on but the core issues that affect women in Ghana but our so called gender advocates have not been able to stand the test of time. Sad. It is for that reason that I am not a fan of Mrs. Lithur. She is well qualified..she has the degrees to match but zilch. And when my common sense tells me she was given that position because of her Gender activism...sigh! And for me personally no " hardcore" gender activist accepts   government appointment. Yes..I feel you have to work outside the confines of government. Activist or not at the end of the day especially in Ghana the bark stops with President/Presidency. That popular we are clearing the kayayos from the street, anyone?! Yep it didn't work. So that excuse about adding to government is ummm ummm "not solid" Or I am talking too much? What do I know right? Hahaaha I guess not much! But mull over it, and let me know what you think.

Have a good evening...

Breaking Bad...

Good afternoon people, no no no and no. My post title has nothing to do with current political happenings in Ghana, none of that. Gotcha. Yes i can see your smile.  Come on people, today is Friday. I cannot afford to be too serious today. By this time, i should be in some Barbadous, sipping some pina colada by the beach...blogging about sights and sounds on a Friday night. Sigh. Snap back to reality. Pina what? I just had some crazy noodle mix from Epo Spot in Osu. Washed it down with chilled coconut juice. Why are you snickering!! Nothing low cost about those noodles apart from the price. That food has been blessed by the heavens. Just like waakye...waakye sold miles away from a smelly gutter, sold in a plantain leaf is always on point. Truth.com. No need to polish some dishes, waste of time and effort.
But Mr. Kwesi Pratt says what? New Oga did not consult? Who? Him? And since when did he has the voice of the rank and file of the ruling party? Yes, he has being a staunch supporter though he claims to bleed CPP what gives him the right to come and air and talk that way? Or am i the only one who sees him overstepping some boundries? Or there are no boundries? I see you already saying Kweku Baako Jnr? But does he also do that? I do not think so. Do you?

Ok, ok i will do 20% politics and 80% non political. Noodles and waakye sweet. Politics is sweeter, hands down (laughing). I will admit that there is soo much to talk about. Supreme Court, Presidential appointments, people lobbying within and without especially those courting the media...so much to seriously talk about (and knowing me) laughing about.
Permission to talk about my 80%non political stuff  now? Thank you. I will be done in a minute.

Francis Antwi i owe you one. But do not dream of charge alot because idey bi k3k3 reigns supreme in my world and "free" things including winning a bet for a "free" reward is not good or is it quality. Alo? Nakine n)ni. Sane le, efe simple koraa (experimenting with Ga).
Let me explain myself so you do not get lost in my rumblings about owing someone.
Francis and I had a critical arguement about foreign television series. We were arguing about the hottest series on at that particular time/ 2012. I was virtually dying with craze over my new found love 'Homeland" whilst (at least i thought) he was disturbing me with "Breaking Bad". I thought it going to be lame like Vampire Diaries( Yes Vampire Diaries is lame, True Blood anyone?). He took the huge step and went ahead to watch my obsession whilst i still argued with him about mine without watching his. Still wondering what kind of point I was trying to prove. All that excitement i was missing.

Real silly. But i will tell the truth...yep , me and my too known self  wanted to watch but i didn't want to give him the satisfaction that it is good or it will be. But goodness gracious it is beyond good, it is awesome and NO! I will not tell you what it is about. I will not discuss all the good stuff, i will recommend. You will watch and tell me what you think. Shout outs to Daniel Somuah. I sure know you loved The Hobbit. Nice, Right?
So kindly look for a nerd to download online it for you, buy the CD collection or hope that one day one of the local television stations hears of it and decides to show it. (whipsering... ummm if it is GTV do not hope for long, it aint happening. not in this lifetime).
But do look for it soon and let discuss it sometime. My top picks for series are Scandal, Homeland, Breaking Bad, Revenge, Game of Thrones, Two Broke Girls, Merlin, Suits, How I Met Your Mother and The Good Wife.No before you ask, let me answer. I do not bother my big head with Ghanaian movies or Nigerian  movies. I am simply not fascinated though sometimes I wish I could take only two people out of Ghana and Nigeria. Just take them and dump them in Hollywood. I think they will fare pretty well. They just need a good script, good directorial guidance, costume...Majid Michel and Genevive Nnaji.
Majid is not bad, love his energy in some movie i watched for about 10 minutes ( Please i only said Majid dont ask about the rest of the guys, they are very stiff)...Genevive yes i love, watched an entire Nigerian  movie because of her. It was entitled "True Colors".  I am currently hunting for Lincoln. Any movie that has 12 Oscar nominations sure tickles my fancy. I hope it is just as fabulous like the  Kings Speech and not as boring as Skyfall. I know i have got myself into trouble now. Let me run before the James Bond family see this. Grin.

But have a good weekend. I know I will...sleep, weddings, sleep, another wedding, barbeque, sleep.  Keeping my fingers crossed, praying and hoping I eat scrumptious wedding cake and not the  # raisinfilledhardteethcrushertastenumbingtype. And I also know I will enjoy the reactions as they come regarding the nominations for Ministerial positions. First list is out, I am happy he has retained Hon. Hannah Tetteh. Prof. Nana Agyemang is new not bad...anyone remember her from the IEA debates, Nana Oye Lithur...ah why? slective gender advocate....puzzled look!!!. And ooo New Oga please on behalf of the NPP leadership who need psychological treatment...Unco Spio Gabrah says he is ready to serve. Please do not let this one pass him by. Should I laugh or should I wait? Let me wait for the evil dwarf reaction...*holding in laughter*

Cant help it....hahahahahahaaaahahhhaaaahaaa

Have a good weekend everybody.

God Bless.

New Sheriff in town and then some...

Sleepy eyes, runny nose, slight headache. Yes that is me this morning. I did not escape the harmattan o, whilst i escaped the blistered lips and dry skin i have got a raging cold.
Still cannot believe it. Dry horrible weather...blistering barnacles!!! Forget about my cold, lets move onto exciting things.
Lots of excitement in Ghana my beloved country. I am at work so i cannot see anything but i am close to the independent square and the sirens are having a field day today. As for those with sirens there must be a public order act that binds them, now empty cars sirens attached just blow sirens to dodge traffic. *frown* And considering how some of the roads are narrow that can be so so annoying. Maybe i should make a new year resolution and attach a siren. Like i will have a field day.
Umm back to topic, as i said there is a new sheriff coming into town today. Today the 7th of January 2013 is the day set aside constituitonally (emphasis on 7th January) to swear in the President of the Republic of Ghana. The new sheriff is H.E. John Dramani Mahama, he is to become the 4th president of the 4th Republic of Ghana. Now that is a cool title. No?!

This election, its declaration and its swearing in has been with lots of incidence. As i currently write this, men and women have converged at the entrance of Ex. H.E. Prez John Agyekum Kufuor in a bid to stop him from attending the inaugration ceremony. Before i get into that, i know you will want to know what i am feeling at this moment.
I am disappointed. I am human and naturally I am crushed that my candidate Hon. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is not been sworn in the President. But i always take things in my stride. Life is short. You have to. I have learnt early in life that the bigger picture is always what matters...so i will not dwell on the dissappointment that happens here and now, i will focus on the lessons that this will bring. What has been established clearly is that our electoral process needs a revamp. We have progressed immensly yes but we need to do more. As for the other details that the party leadership of the NPP seek from the court..*broad smile* that will be something wouldnt it? But lets wait and see. Lots of drama, it will be. I already hear that Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata is leading the pack. Thank the heavens. I sure know we do not need to D Annan-ise this.
Well, well, well....makes it more interesting doesnt it. I really do not know if it is a psychological thing that the legal team of the NDC seeks to do but ahem....the last time we had a Tsikata and Akufo Addo encounter there was....No! i will not tell you, why must i always do the konkonsa. Dear reader of my blog at this moment, please go and find out. Mope saa. Thank you.

Sailing through to the people infront of H.E. Ex. Prez Kufuor's home...hmm what do i say. It is hard, it is painful but leave him be. I get and share the frustrations that they have. Because the principle is you are either with us or against us. But at the same time, you cannot force him especially when he has made up his mind. Emphasis- he has made up his mind.He says he is going in his capacity as Ex. President and truth of the matter is he is. You can only do soo much. People must learn to have extra thick skin. Is the teasing or is the ridicule? What havent you heard during the past four years? Why does anything that comes out suprise anybody anymore? Just look at the recent one, because the NPP is boycotting Hon Joe Ghartey wouldnt be given the seat as deputy speaker...such pettiness. Why? Do we now do tit for tat here. Especially at the highest levels of the executive. I was going to be very surprised if it happened. Thank God, it didnt. Seriously when i saw those loudly championing it..i just rolled my eyes. Yawn! Next.
Yes he will go but it will not change any alphabet on the petition at the Supreme Court.
Someday with the permission of Patrick (because he is an intergral part of the story) i will tell you why things do not bother me, then peharps you will understand why i really do not look up to anyone unless i want to look up to God..That is your best armour against all the daily encounters in life. Nipa di33..You can stop him from going but the at end of the day..the fact will still remain that he wanted to go. So let him be. Just let him be. Respect his wishes.

Well Big Oga...welcome. You might never get to meet me, but please..I am already introducing you to my space. In Ghana, the bark stops at the President, so Oga everything i will leave at your door. yep the good, the bad and the ugly. I already hear them calling you humble. With all due respect, throw that humble somewhere. Let there be a firm grip mind you not a tyrannical one but let us go to sleep knowing that JDM is incharge, I am sure tired of having some director of communication asserting some faux sanctions on us. I hope you change some people if you ask me that ministry of info needs a revamp. And there is some horrible stench at Achimota. And ummm Accra is dark..streetlights your excellency. Dont mind the Tema Motorway people...our street light! terrible, come on during the day...go off at night. it is sad!! Water?! And please.... Now wait a minute...have i already started giving him my list. haha. Let me stop, let him be sworn in. We will do this later. Eish my online stalker says Oga is wearing some serious agbadaa. eishhh enye easy koraa. Aunty Lordina's hips in kaba. ei Oga!

Have a good day people.

Traffic is going to be something today...those of us working in Accra...sob sob sniff sniff ( i hate colds).

Change the trend...

2nd December 2013 (broad smile)... it has a nice ring to it doesn't it?. You and I once again have made it.  Off the finish line. We have crossed over into 2013 (hope Rev. Otabil doesn't have exclusive rights to that phrase). No sir, i am not even going to comment on my new year resolutions. I do not have any. No need! Break them fast as i create them. Done with all that. I want to live one day at a time, cross my t's and dot my i's as they come along. But do not mind me, resolute away( haaha).
Many happy returns. Afei sesei na obiara ete nkwamu...na obiara ay3 kama. Afei sesei na Supreme Court akasa na obiara ehu ne smoothness level (mischievious laugh)...easy easy. haha.

So i am back at work and i am literally about to burst a vein. It is all because of some "genius" who decided to fib that an email which contained crucial information for the Executive Director did not hit her Outlook. Apart for my immediate disdain because seriously it is not even a week into the new year but you are lying (how?), it is very sad that people cannot own up and take responsibility. Yes once in a while, as human as we are we tend to want to dodge small but seriously we cannot bring that behaviour into serious places such as our places of work. Do we ever stop to think that such our irresponsible behaviour can cost lots of money and especially lots of damage to reputations where deadlines are concerned.

Well one thing i will share with you is please go the extra mile and copy(cc) or blindcopy (bcc) yourself in all mails you send. It is very critical for survival in an office environment.  Another friend Abeeku Entsua Mensah gave another tip "if your email client is configured that way you can add a receipt...when they read/open the mail it will let you know they have seen/read it. Then they cant lie abt it". Fantastic! Because apart from dealing with some smartass collegues you get to deal with some clients who are allergic to reading your emails. One thing is for sure, I will make this collegue doesnt hear the end of it for the next two weeks. Yes because at the end of the day, you do not treat people like that. I really cannot understand how people read the Bible these days....ummm do unto yourself as you would do unto thy neighbour. And i repeat to make matters worse it is not even a week into the new year...so so temptations.

My headliner...Change the trend is not about her. It is about a discussion Patrick and I had yesterday. We went to La Palm. Yes if you snickered then this post is exactly for you. As we sat over drinks before dinner arrived, we realised that we sat in amidst of non Ghanaians. Yes, left right center. No! I am in no way saying that the it is wrong for them to patronise such a place..tourism blah blah blah but why do we shy away from such places. Who do we want to go ans sit in those places for us. During our discussion (very interesting i must say), we made a couple of points. Three actually stood firm, I have listed them below,

1. People can afford to go there but simply will not go because people will talk about them.
2. People think it is way above their budgets.
3.It is very pretencious to say the least.

Let me ask you ...were we wrong in our assumption? Let me know if you think so. Honestly. I know this for certain that once you begin by what people dictate, you have signed a  beautiful death warrant. I also know that you grow only when you step out off your comfort zone...what is wrong in putting on a nice shirt or blouse and going to enjoy a treat alone or with family or good friends?. What is wrong? And please you really do not need lots of money to go to such places.. I do not have millions in my purse as I walk around. You will be surprised some people just go and sit over a bottle of water and drinks and talk plenty whilst you can afford a decent meal there quietly. It is not pretencious to go to such places, it really is not. It is not as if you are going to live there and act like Alinko Dangote . Think about it and change the trend. Let us stop making such places no go areas. It is built in Ghana  not Mars. If you have worked hard, you deserve to relax nicely...or that one too is someway? ei if it is then i really do not understand soo many things

I have got to go....lunch break is done.

Ps. Is 7th January a holiday..please i love my holidays, cant help it.

hahaaha.
