When i decided to begin actual blogging i just had to start with politics. (its a no brainer right).
One of my favorite things in the world is Politics. I am sure you will get to see that as you get to know me better. Adi33 no wo me mogya mu, metwi koraa entwi... But errrrr let me just state it here and now that I am in no way aiming for main stream politics. It is not a bad thing if someone wants to but for me naaaaaa.....my mouth is too kokonsa.
It can just be equated to my love for chocolate. thick and yummy. My love for politics goes way back as far as Junior High in University Primary School Legon. It begin with my fascination with Jerry John Rawlings yep the Papa himself. Ohhh I used to love 6th March. I am sure most of you remember how he was always decked out in solid white military uniform( my fav) or the black one. I thought that was all there was to it. I grew and obviously that mentality changed. I realised it was a fierce contest of ideas, money, fame and power. I also realised that it was also about people, it was about the destiny of a nation, the future of NaaBia as a child and NaaBia the adult. But one thing struck me, we were all doing politics here in Ghana, bigger scope Africa and we were poor not just poor but freaking poor. Ah but how? the Western world did the same politics and they were developed! And we were here jubilating about emancipation (yawnnnnnnn)
Then I started asking questions, I listened to the news both foreign and locals, I listened to my parents and whoever was above 50, I read books, journals, newspapers, and everything that could explain the difference between our politics and theirs. Nothing!!!
Before long i realised it was just our mindset. Arguably I concluded that we have the mindset of grandeur but our methods are steeped in untruths, cutting corners, corruption and (my headache for my country and continent) laziness.
What is the remedy for Ghana? That is a tough one...Will we get there? Oh boy another tough one? We will have to see wont we. But I encourage all of us to get involved. Whether it is mainstream or on the sidelines like me :) because the apathy has to stop. We have absolutely no excuse to be apathetic.
We have to start asking intelligent questions, we have to start critiquing the kind of people who enter parliament as our reps. and eventutually who we choose as President. (that parliament we have is not any august house). We must take interest in what out taxes are used for. We must. If we stop being lazy, grow up and get tough, some people would not dare walk into our Ministry without a contract and make away with huge sums in the name of judgement debts....it is a tough ooo hmm.
And for my girlfriends....this is not about women empowerment or Beijing. It is simply about making Ghana a better nation. Let everything that goes on around you interest you. Trust me it is way more fabulous to be intelligent... ampa ooo, monma moani enbr3 wai. Na Ghana ye yen dea.
This years election will be something else....No?! errrr i know who you should vote for...(see me in chambers)
